Amærican Dræme

What is the American dream? In my opinion, the American dream is equal opportunity. The American dream is giving everyone a chance to succeed. Anyone can become a success story. Anyone can go from rags to riches, if they try. The American dream is that anyone can come from all over to get a new start, to live a different life. Anyone can change who they were, and can achieve great things. That, in my opinion, is the American dream. Equal opportunity for all, regardless of where they come from.

  1. Hello Santiago,

I fully agree with your post. Coming to America is all about a fresh start, and being an American is all about defending the freedoms of those who have come. However, America is facing some problems about the justification of the American Dream. Immigrants are being turned away, suspicions are being turned on people who look "different" than how an "American is supposed to look." How would you suggest stopping these bad things?

    Again, great post!

  2. Hi Santiago,
I agree with your post about everyone having an equal opportunity, but i think this idea is being taken too far. You mention that people only deserve this opportunity if they work for it, but society today (like the Obama campaign) is taking from the rich and forming the US into somewhat of a communist country. We are taking money from the people who are rich because they have worked and dumping it into the people who are poor and not doing anything about it.Yes, there are some that work hard and deserve the benefits from this system, but there are other who don't and that is why I think that the American Dream is a flawed idea.
    Thanks
    Catherine
